ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

This role is part of GBS Corporate Finance Team.

The primary responsibility of the role is to proactively drive the delivery of Group Statutory & Management Reporting in accordance with Accounting Standards and Governance Controls for South Pacific (SP) end markets. The role includes delivering Month End, Half Year, Fast Close and Year End financial reporting while identifying Operational Efficiencies in key areas to achieve BAU results.

The Assistant Corporate Finance Manager clearly understands the business dynamics in terms of Balance Sheet management, stakeholder management, and supporting the business in the process of decision-making while collaborating with the Compliance team in ensuring adherence to BAT Global Framework for SP end markets.

The Assistant Corporate Finance Manager supports in ensuring a sound control environment to address business risks and model the competitive impact on BAT’s business.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Drive a robust Balance Sheet management by provisioning of financial insights, ad-hoc analysis, and facilitating an environment where simplification and continuous improvement are prioritized;
  • Conduct a monthly review to ensure Balance Sheet hygiene position are maintained and supported. Identify action plan and follow up with stakeholders and other GBS functions by having a pre and post close analysis;
  • Ensure timely signed-off / submission of the Balance Sheet Reconciliation (BSR) / Blackline reporting and any variances are clarified and justified;
  • To support the DRBU Compliance by ensuring the BSR are comply with the SOX requirement and to support the SP Compliance team while coordinating with the external auditors for statutory reporting;
  • Identify, communicate and resolve any Balance Sheet reconciliation issues to avoid any frauds and potential monetary losses due to inappropriate accounting practice;
  • To support any project improvement implementation by providing an insights on the BSR new initiative and standardizing the Way Of Working (WoW) with other end markets and where appropriate implement efficiency improvements;
  • To support the GBS FC and Corporate Finance Manager for coordination in the preparation of the annual company plan and assist business managers to find opportunities to optimize costs and assets use within this process and on an ongoing basis;
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to local accounting standards and supports Corporate Finance Manager;
  • Coaching, motivating, developing, training and steer the team to continuously deliver value and results;
  • Creates a culture of cooperation, performance and teamwork across the SP team members;
  • Cultivates strategic partnerships : SP end markets & other GBS functions to secure end to end solutions are optimized and efficient;
  • Lead monthly Financial Review with the GBS FC and FDs from end market. Ensuring key points / issues are delivered to ensure they are always in a well-informed position;
  • Ensure business needs and relationships are fulfilled and enhanced through proactive involvement and interaction (including cross-functional teams and external parties)

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in a global FMCG or similar dynamic operating environment;
  • Understand the impact of the accounting processes and practices and any changes in accounting standards;
  • A detailed understanding and knowledge of relevant finance tools and systems, specifically BI/BPC or SAP equivalent;
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills to collaborate and coordinate optimally with team members at varying levels in the organizational hierarchy;
  • Able to identify process and reporting improvements and proactively implement solutions;
  • Meticulous, proactive, and can work under pressure with minimum supervision to contribute to change in a dynamic environment;
  • Able and willing to provide mentorship to subordinates, strong leadership traits and capability
  • Knowledgeable in identifying risks and in implementing controls;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to interpret financial data;
  • Strong sense of responsibility and urgency;
  • Degree or equivalent experience educated with professional accountancy qualification (CA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA) preferred;
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
  • Able to cater to South Pacific market work hours
